About the Play:
FEVER takes place during the last days of Disco as a film company is shooting a musical in Hollywood’s Griffith Park when the star, Mia, refuses to marry her co-star in a studio arranged publicity wedding. Instead Mia runs off with a Spanish gigolo for a secret wedding in the woods. Mia is chased by her producer, her father, her co-star and her best friend where they all collide with a band of supernatural forest creatures in a hilarious madcap mix-up of mystery and magic in a forest of love. FEVER is written by South Gate Stage director, Howard Dando.
FEVER will also be presented at South Gate High School with current and graduate students on May, 15, 16 and 17 2008 at 7 PM.
South Gate High School is located at 3351 Firestone Blvd., South Gate, CA 90280.
The honorary chairs of the Festival are Stephen Schwartz (composer of "Wicked"), Stephen Sondheim (composer of "Sweeney Todd"), Jerry Herman (composer of "Hello Dolly"), Jason Alexander and Angela Lansbury. Executive Producers of the Festival are Marcia Seligson, and Bob Kline.
Stephen Sondheim said, " What impresses me most about the Festival is ... working directly with ethnically diverse high schools and colleges and helping them produce new musicals in their schools ... and ignite a passion for theater in young people."
